This ensures unnecessary traffic is not disrupting our guests' stay.
Tours of our Cat’s Cottage may be scheduled also. Please call to arrange an appointment.
Payment Terms
Our rates are in Canadian Dollars.
Boarding fees will be charged for arrival day and pick-up day. When booking your stay and you arrange to pick up before 12 pm (noon), you will not be charged for pick-up day. Between 12 pm and 6 pm you will be charged for half a day. After 6 pm you will be charged for a full day.
50% of the boarding charges are required as a deposit upon arrival.
All accounts must be paid in full on pick-up.
Please understand that we reserve your cat’s room for the period you requested. If you pick up early, you will be charged for the full period you reserved, unless we are able to fill the space.
Payment options are Cash, E-transfer, or cheque.
Vaccinations and Health Requirements
Your cat(s) must be up to date with vaccinations. We will need to see the latest vaccination certificates within two years, provided by your vet, either before or at time of arrival.
We require the following vaccinations:
- 3-way distemper (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)
OR
- 4-way distemper (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia, Feline Chlamydiosis.)
- Rabies –indoor and outdoor cats
- Feline Leukemia (recommended, but not required, up to discretion of personal veterinarian).
We have a common play area, but cats of different families do NOT play together unless requested. One family at a time uses the play area. Since the doors of the rooms have wire mesh some contact is probable.
Because we cannot isolate individual cats, we cannot board FelV and FIV positive cats.
If for medical reasons your cat(s) cannot be vaccinated, we will need a clean Bill of Health from your vet.
Right to refuse a cat
We do reserve the right to refuse to board a cat that is ill, lacks the necessary vaccinations, or has needs that we are unable to accommodate. Please, discuss your cat’s needs with us prior to booking.
All cats should be clean and free of contagious diseases, fleas or ticks, dewormed (if outdoor cats), and have nails trimmed prior to arrival.
Fleas
We do our best to ensure the Cat’s Cottage remains flea free.
Upon arrival we check for fleas and flea dirt. If we discover the presence of fleas or flea dirt on your cat(s), we will refuse their stay.
The Interlake Cat's Cottage is a small facility and we do not have the capability to quarantine your cat(s) away from everyone else till a flea treatment has taken effect.
It is the responsibility of the cat owner to ensure the cat is protected against fleas. We recommend that all cats be treated with a quality flea preventative at least 48 hours prior to their stay with us.
Food
We recommend that you bring your cat's food from home to prevent any unnecessary stomach upsets due to an abrupt change of diet. There should be enough food provided to cover your cat’s entire stay.
We will not be providing dry food anymore as there are too many different kinds of food and we can’t stock them all.
General
All cats over 7 months of age must be spayed or neutered.
We accept kittens that eat on their own and use the litter box.
We provide food and water, litter and litter boxes, bedding and toys, brushings and cuddles, play and quiet time, but please bring an item from home for your cat to snuggle with, just to make the separation from you a little easier.
For safety reasons, we require that you use a cat carrier to transport your cat to and from the facility.
The Cat’s Cottage has a double entry door system to ensure the safety of our feline guests.
